The THISDL Boarding Center is located in Mingzhai, a green and eco-friendly building that has received the prestigious LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building is equipped with a geothermal heating and cooling system, dedicated outdoor air system,DOAS and central air conditioning, all working together to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment. Additionally, the entire facility is monitored by an air quality detection system that issues alerts when indoor air quality changes, allowing for timely adjustments to ensure that students always breathe clean and fresh air, safeguarding their health.
Each dorm room is fully equipped with complete study and living facilities, including eco-friendly and comfortable bedding. Every room features a private bathroom with dry-wet separation, offering a more thoughtful and user-friendly living experience. On each floor, students have access to free laundry equipment (washing machines and dryers), dedicated self-study rooms, and a direct drinking water system.
For convenient and private communication, soundproof phone booths are available on the ground floor, allowing students to connect with their families with ease. In addition, each floor is equipped with telephones and intercom systems in both boys’ and girls’ sections, ensuring students can reach teachers or parents promptly in case of emergencies.
In addition to top-tier facilities, professional support and services are a hallmark of the THISDL Boarding Center. The school implements a Dual-Mentor System, where each student is paired with both an Academic Mentor and a Growth Mentor. This ensures that students from diverse backgrounds receive comprehensive care and guidance in both academics and daily life, with attention given to their unique strengths and needs.
The dormitory building also houses a Health Center staffed with professional medical personnel, offering 24-hour medical services to provide an extra layer of protection for students’ health. Balanced, nutritious, and diverse three daily meals, along with three daily snacks (offered during the morning and afternoon Win Time, as well as after evening study), ensure that students receive the energy and nutrition they need throughout the day.
THISDL Boarding Center also provides evening English courses to help students improve their academic English proficiency. These include academic English classes and test preparation courses for overseas studies, giving students options based on their learning goals.
The THISDL Lecture Hall is another signature feature of the boarding program. On every evening when the students return to school, experts, professors, and accomplished professionals from a wide range of academic and scientific fields are invited to campus to deliver inspiring and intellectually enriching lectures to students.
A wide variety of extracurricular activities are also available at THISDL. The annual art and photography exhibition, “Designing the THISDL Garden,” nurtures students’ appreciation for beauty, creativity, and their love of life. Regular Themed Night Activities include English language workshops, documentary viewings, sports, audio-visual entertainment, arts and crafts, puzzles, mental wellness activities, board games, and music production. These engaging and diverse activities are designed to be both enjoyable and meaningful, allowing students to explore interests and choose what best suits them.
The center also organizes “Warm Birthday Parties” at the beginning of each month. Growth mentors carefully plan these celebrations for students with birthdays that month, creating a warm, inclusive environment where students feel recognized and cared for.
To encourage positive behavior and responsibility, THISDL Boarding Center has also established a range of awards and recognition programs, including Best Dormitory Awards, Perfect Attendance Awards, and Outstanding Individual Awards.
THISDL places strong emphasis on home-school collaboration to promote student growth. Each dormitory has its own dedicated WeChat group, involving school administrators, boarding center directors, team leaders, growth mentors, and academic mentors—all working together with parents to form a collaborative support network for students’ development.
Growth Mentors, who hold qualifications in education or psychology, maintain detailed growth records for each student and provide timely updates on students’ daily life and academic progress, helping parents stay informed and engaged. Mentors also remind students to regularly call home during the week, encouraging conversations about school life and family matters, and fostering emotional connections. Academic Mentors, mostly subject teachers, support students during evening study sessions and stay in regular contact with parents to ensure consistent academic support.
At THISDL, boarding is also a form of learning—a valuable extension of education beyond the classroom. Through community living, students learn essential life skills such as independence, respect for others, rule-following, and teamwork. Most importantly, they begin to understand how their personal choices can positively influence their immediate community and the broader world around them.
